Plots 19-21 are situated on the rim of the new urban development area of Bern-Brünnen. The project completes the prevailing urban pattern with its linear and grid like plots and buildings of the southern part of the district. The building typology on plots 19 and 20 react to the linearity of the plots and to the noise exposure of the railway tracks in the south with two slab buildings containing shot-through apartments with a north-south orientation. The building on plot 21 with its all sided orientation establishes an entrance situation to the new development area.
A shelf like, modular system reflects the inner organization and unites the three buildings into one urbanistic entity. A generous linear balcony serves as an access to the individual apartments and at the same time creates a space of identity and communication.
